Scentwork sometimes called Nosework, is an activity where dogs are helped to use part of their natural behaviour and sniffing ability.
Suitable for any breed type, age and activity level, including puppies and veterans whose natural dynamic exercise is restricted, dogs with mobility issues and those in need of a confidence boost, dogs will be trained how to train to find a scent, how to indicate a find and how to expand their known scents.
Providing enormous satisfaction, scentwork can easily be incorporated within daily life of pet dogs. The enrichment helps to keep arousal levels low and thus promote feelings of calmness and relaxation.
How is Scentwork Training Structured?
With availability on a bi-annual basis, training is provided by Helen Hankins, a Scentwork UK Trainer and Trial Judge (Tiers 1 & 2).
A Class Pass provides you with 8 hourly Classes to be redeemed within 12 weeks of term time to allow you the flexibility to skip a few sessions without loosing any money. Should you be able to attend every week, you simply top-up on a pay-as-you-go basis for the remainder of term or purchase another Class Pass.
Our programme promotes quality time between dog and handler via fun-based exercises and our unique achievement awards.
There are opportunities to progress from Beginners through to Advanced.
When & Where is Scentwork Training?
Our next Taster Workshop is 18th September in Hampton.
At Linden Hall Community Centre, Hampton TW12 2JG we have both indoor and outside space. There is a free on-site car park as well as on-street parking for which no charges apply. Hampton (London) railway station is 3 minutes walk away and bus routes have stops on Priory Road and Percy Road.

What do I need to Bring for Scentwork?
- Suitable well-fitted collar & lead with legally compliant ID
- Flat nylon / leather lead
- Red Kong
- Variety of small size HIGH VALUE food rewards
- Means of picking after your dog for lawful disposal
- Water & bowl
- Weather-dependent dogwear (waterproof / thermal / cooling coat / chill bandana / cool mat etc.
- Comfortable clothing and footwear, appropriate and safe for all weather conditions (ie no flip flops)
